Primarily correspondence among members of the Palmer, Main and Randall families of North Stonington, Connecticut. Also includes assorted financial records, deeds, a school register, 1862, school exercise books and essays, and a medical notebook of Alonzo A. Palmer. Other Palmer family members whose names appear in the collection are Susan Main Palmer, George C. Palmer, and Caius C. Palmer. Susan Palmer received letters from her family including Robert P. Main and Rufus Wells Main. Within the collection but with no apparent connection are the papers of Benjamin and Nathan Billings of Griswold and Preston, Connecticut, respectively. Benjamin M. Randall wrote several letters to Abel Palmer from his home in Westerly, Rhode Island, and the Randall family is also represented by Phineas Randall.
